Murdock Solon Architects recently took its work to another level – a private rooftop on Park Avenue. Located in the Flatiron District, the garden is already a well-appreciated amenity for the building’s commercial tenants.
The rooftop terrace is elevated 15 feet above the existing roof level to maximize panoramic views of the city. It encircles the building’s three industrial skylights, creating a perimeter of natural wood and greenery. Intimate lounge areas with covered seating include informal dining tables for comfortable lunch breaks, out-of-office meetings, or simply relaxing. For presentations or entertainment, patrons can also utilize the large movie-theatre-style LED screen mounted on an ivy clad vertical extension.
Wood benches strategically surrounded by greenery create additional outdoor room-like settings. The entire space is dramatically anchored by 20-foot trees in the center court with perennial plantings around the perimeter, resulting in an outdoor space that is both beautiful and functional year-round.
